In Udaipur, all four gates of Fatehsagar Lake were opened: They were supposed to be opened on Ganesh Chaturthi, as last year, but due to the heavy inflow of water, the gates were opened today.

Water inflow into Fatehsagar Lake has surged rapidly through the Madar Canal. Last year, the gates of the lake were opened on Ganesh Chaturthi, but due to heavy inflow this year, the gates were opened earlier — at 4:15 PM on 26 August 2025.
Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain, Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, District Collector Namit Mehta, and UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain performed prayers before formally opening the four gates.
The lake, which has a storage capacity of 13 feet, had already reached its full level. Officials of the Water Resources Department confirmed that continuous rainfall in the catchment area has kept the inflow steady. With the opening of the gates, water is now flowing directly into Ayad and further into Udaisagar Lake. Authorities had also issued an advisory urging residents in downstream areas to remain cautious.
The sight of gushing waters and high waves at Sahelion ki Bari and nearby viewpoints drew crowds of visitors, capturing the festive spirit and excitement of Udaipur residents.
Meanwhile, due to the ongoing rainfall, the Udaipur District Collector has declared a holiday for all government and private schools across the district, except those within the Udaipur Municipal Corporation limits.
